2014

Black Swan Institute founded

In 2014, Black Swan Institute is co-founded by Annemarie Vitoft and Anders Find, on the principle that risk management strategies can minimize the effect of the unpredictable “Black-Swan Events”. Annemarie and Anders began their partnership long before the company, when they established the National ICT Council and in cooperation designed and developed the framework for Risk assessment of large-scale government ICT projects. They also took part in the many reviews of programs and projects in risk with large scale cost and time overrun.

Black Swan Institute is co-founded by Annemarie Vitoft. Black Swan Institute's principle is that Risk Management strategies and standards can minimize the unpredictable 'black-swan events'. It also complies with the NIS2-directive.

2015

A New Office

Black Swan institute moves into the office in Frederiksberg. They develop the first business strategy. A plan of execution is decided including a top 10 list of desired clients. The design bureau AM Copenhagen designs the identity & the first company website, business cards and company presentation.

Black Swan Institute has developed a business strategy, a business website, a business plan and presentation and has moved to their office on Frederiksberg in Copenhagen.

2016

Mitigator Risk tool

In 2016, Black Swan Institute starts designing and developing a risk management tool Mitigator. Mitigator is launched and presented that same year. The tool is from the beginning based on the British best practice standard Management of Risks (M_o_R). The idea is to support management services by a tool with process, database, and reporting. The first version is based on the experience from the case of the review of the health care platform “Sundhedsplatformen”.

The Risk Management tool named Mitigator. Mitigator secures professional risk management for organisations and companies. Mitigator is based on the British best practice standard Management of Risks (M_o_R).

2017

Black Swan Survey uncovers low maturity in risk management

In 2017, Black Swan Institute initiate a survey in 56 public and private companies, together with The Danish It Society, and published in IT Watch & Version2. The survey shows that only one in five companies document and analyze risk data, every third company does not use previous data at all.

A survey on poor risk management in four out of five companies. The survey is made in collaboration with Danish It Society.

2019

Change of business strategy

Black Swan Institute enters the information security agenda. Services in the field of ISO27001 becomes a core business of the company strategy. Anders starts a new company to continue with project risk management in the company Risk ID, and Annemarie takes over Black Swan Institute.

Black Swan Institute enters the information security agenda. We follow standards of ISO27001, ISO27005, and ISO31000. These standards can be used to live up to the NIS2 demand from EU.

2021

Scandinavian Business Award

Black Swan Institute wins the Scandinavian Business Award 2021 as the Best Information Security & Risk Management Consultancy, proving that their new business strategy in 2019 was successful.

2022

From one to four management tools

With a standard process, three databases and reporting configurator, a broader management tool is in 2022 set up for several purposes.

Black Swan Institute already designed and made configuration for a module for risk management of it-systems. Now a further development of functionality makes it possible to support internal Audit and compliance review. The Audit tool is developed onsite to support the audit in a Danish Ministry.

2023

Black Swan Mitigator PRO

In 2023, a Mitigator PRO is launched. All customer needs have been reviewed and with the intention of providing a broader functionality to enhance customers to mature their approach with the support of the management tool. Learn more at the website. link to the left.
